1. Rails
Top and bottom rails enclose the slats to form the panel. You can add a mid rail if you like.
2. Mouse Hole
Front tilt rod sits in the recessed mouse hole in the rail when the slats are shut.
3. Frame
The frame houses the panel, it can fix directly onto a window or into the wall recess.
4. Slats
Slats tilt and rotate to control light levels, views and privacy. Slats close fully upwards.
5. Vertical rails
Vertical rails either side of the panels are called stiles.
6. Rod
The rod is a thin vertical bar that’s connected to the slats, controlling their position when moved up and down.
Slats with 63mm louvers are popular and often chosen out of necessity. Window frames with less depth require 63mm louvers so that the louvers have enough clearance to open and close with hitting the windowpane. They are practical choice for smaller windows and many consider to be the ideal amount of light control and privacy.
89mm slats allow in the most natural light and because they are larger, it takes fewer of them to cover the windows. Thus, seem to disappear into the exterior scenery. We 89mm slats for medium to large windows as they can appear bulky on smaller windows.
When you open a SG Shutter, it stays open and stays put. We use magnet on our shutter panels and corresponding magnet plates on the frame to keep shutters firmly in place through knocks or winds. There is no surcharge for the magnet.
